Pause July 2024 | Student Tablescapes

We LOVE seeing images of what our students have created, but we have to be honest, we love the look on their faces even more! That moment when their still life is styled, the candles are lit and they can stand back in awe. There is something magical that happens when a flower heart gets a platform to express themselves. Without fear or judgement. That is what we want to give each one of our students. A stage where they can admire their beautiful creations.

A BIG thank you again to our amazeballs suppliers. You can read more about them here .

Pause July 2024 | The Venue, Paarl

    “Here we go again”

We are still pinching ourselves thinking that we had a SEVENTH Pause Floral Workshop. This time around we found ourselves at the beautiful THE VENUE in Paarl, with a special group of humans.

Beautiful flower souls from all around the country invested in this journey and trusted us with their creative hearts.

It is important for us to make our students feel special. Our little labour of love after each day of class is to set the table. We just love to see their faces when they walk in each day and see all of the special details put together just for them.

Day 1 was all about theory and tablescapes. When learning a new skill (or even just sharping up old ones) it is best to start at the beginning. So we start with the basics and build our students up to a point where they have the skills to do anything they put their mind to. We also have a social media session with the girls from Galvin Creative Studio and our local flower supplier, Ettiene from Groenigheid, also gave the students some pointers on how to look after their flowers.

Day 2 was all about learning the relationship between a planner and a florist with Jessica from Mon Amour Events, phone photography with Jenni Elizabeth, bouquets, floral accessories and yes, a tad more theory.

    Meet Mon Amour Events

We introduced you to another amazing friend of ours, Jessica Thiart, the founder and owner of the amazing Mon Amour Events. Jessica has been in the events industry for many years and really built herself a reputation as a planner that takes note of every detail. Her weddings is always elegant, always executed with immense passion and she always treats both her client and service providers with a great amount of respect. We just love everything about her and she treated our students to a glimpse inside the inner workings of a planner-florist-relationship.

    Meet Jenni Elizabeth

We introduced you to another amazing friend of ours, Jenni Elizabeth. Jenni is known for her beautiful and timeless approach to wedding photography, content creation for well known brands and phone photography! Jenni gives our students a crash course in phone photography and we LOVE all the “a-ha” moments our students have during her presentation.

    Meet Galvin Creative Studio

Galvin Creative Studio is a social media agency who specialises in digital marketing and content creation. No, you are not seeing double! These two creative hearts are not only twins but also a powerful duo in this new era of social media and all the strategies behind it. They shared the tip of the iceberg with our students and we just love seeing all the creative juices starting to flow!

Day 3 is all about the installations. Starting the day with a tad more theory, covering certain mechanics that you would mostly use when doing large installations. For the practical installation we only focussed on creating an arch using the mechanical opportunities the venue had on offer and finished it off with romantic growing floor posies. During this session, we love to take a step back and observe our students. It is really amazing to see how they’ve grown in only 3 days, hearing them laugh and chatting up a storm with their new-found-flower-friends. Have a look at our Pause July 2024 editorial here.

We wish we could share ALL of the beautiful photographs but that is just not possible! A big thank you again to all of our students who trusted us with their hearts and their hard earned cabbage. We feel blessed to know you and we look forward to see where your creativity leads you.

    Pause June 2022 | Editorial

We really love that moment where all of the skills learned during the 3 days of Pause Floral Workshop comes together during set up of the editorial. Our students’ eyes light up when they take a step back and observe what they have accomplished together. Thinking about each flower and creating something with intention Kay, our beautiful model, brought life to the exquisite Alana van Heerden gown. We could not stop staring at her, standing in the middle of this dreamy floral set up.

For our Pause June 2022 editorial we drew inspiration from the beautiful natural light streaming in from the glass foyer at L’Atrium. We used pops of peach and yellow to create a strong contrast against he hard textures in this space. We used the backdrop as our structure and showed the students how to approached elevated installations when using flowers that would need a water source. We also did hanging installations on structures in front of the backdrop, creating a 3D effect. Please see full credits at the bottom of the page.

Pause June 2022 | Introducing our Team

“Alone we can do do so little; together we can do so much.”
    Helen Keller

We know it sounds corny, but there really is no I in Team. This curated experience is only possible because we have incredible suppliers and people holding our hands. The following service providers made Pause June 2022 possible, we are beyond grateful to each and every one of you.

We would also like to do a massive shoutout to Theunis, Zanes and Vanessa for being the most amazeballs flower fairies one can ever ask for. We appreciate you efforts more than you would ever know!
